CIVI 231 Geology Course Project Group: LM(2)

What's up guys. This forum proved to be useful in the past and it should make for an easier communication medium between the three of us. Pretty quiet forum with not a lot of activity. Just a quick registration from both of you and we're ready to go. Save this page in your favorites and check back on a regular basis for new posts.

This is really ideal for big group projects but even with 3 members, it should serve us well. Once registered, please post a confirmation so we can get the ball rolling on that A+.
Mike

Yeah, I'm in. I think I would have prefered the Moodle site, this ones full of other stuff...kinda distracting.

I made up a format for the project report, based on the Form & Style Guide from Concordia. I'll bring a printed copy to class so we can have a look at it.

Cheers,

You'll warm to it. It seems loaded but in essence, it's simply quote and quickreply. There's image display in case one wants to show graphs, charts, etc. to other members for their opinion. Not sure if you have that on Moodle but in any case, its a great format for discussion if you give it a chance.

Looking forward to see that guide. Should give us an idea on how we're gonna tackle this thing.

Here's the plot of land as per Google earth. According to that program it's location is about a 50 minute drive from the school. I don't know if you guys are interested in seeing the place, I am and if you are too that cool, if not, that's also cool.

So now we're supposed to pic 150 to 175 acres of land within 1 km of that spot.

I'm going to try and hit the library this Friday and see what kind of maps they have to offer. I've never looked up maps at a library so it'll be interesting to see what's what.

Also, I was thinking this morning, when we write our reports, we should include at least some of the terms from the glossary of each chapter. Be all smart sounding like.

Cheers,

I think visiting the site is a must. We can bring back land samples and pictures for further analysis.

I can join you Friday if you wish. I have a break from 2:00-5:45 or after class.

By the way 150-175 acres sounds huge.

Well I have a car so we can take mine but I think we should try to gather some information first at the library on Friday. We'll be better prepared once we get to the site tentatively next week. What do you guys think?

I found the library info, and unfortunatly it's not open Friday evening, at least the Geology part of it. I've made arragements to check out the maps at McGill on Thursday evening. At around 6:15. Can either of you be there? or both, even better.

Location: Walter Hitschfeld Geographic Information Center.

As for site location weekends are better for me. I have a van and so if you want we can meet at Concordia and take my van...just an idea.

We have to select the area we intend to the use as the parcel. It's has to be from 0.5 square km to 0.75 square km. I think once we've seen the different types of maps at McGill we'll be able to make a selection that is easy to work with, at least in terms of getting lots of information together, easily, for the project. Plus it should have a road access...It's not clear from the google photo if there's a road to that body of water, which is fine, I don't mind walking, but I'm sure you get my point...

Cheers,

I'm good to go for Thursday since there is no lab. My cell phone is 514-941-2794. Maybe Google earth will show the roads?
